A Glimpse of the Co-curricular and Extra-curricular Activities

Our efforts have always been towards contributing to the society in a positive manner through co-curricular and extra-curricular activities. Through their actions, Anand Niketan International students have been exhibiting the Cambridge Learner Attributes of being -confident with ideas; responsible for themselves and respectful towards others; reflective as learners; innovative for new and future challenges; and, engaged intellectually and socially, ready to make a difference.

At our school, students are given the opportunity to undertake internships in order to gain real world experiences and hone their skill set including social skills, self-management skills, communication skills and thinking skills. This helps the students to be better prepared for the career they want to pursue in future. For example, students desiring to pursue law have opted to undergo an internship at law firms to understand the precision with which a case is dealt with, while on the other hand students aspiring to become a restaurateur have taken up an internship at restaurants.

Anand Niketan International is also involved in various community service programmes. Volunteering is a great way to make a difference in the community and social responsibility is an important part of the community. It feels proud to see the young Anand Niketan International students show empathy, compassion and respect and have a commitment to services hence working towards becoming better global citizens. Our students have been part of community service projects like 'Laddoo Foundation' that works towards bringing small but significant changes in the lives of underprivileged children , and 'YUVA Unstoppable', a non-governmental organization in India, that works towards educating underprivileged children and involving them in various non-curricular activities. The organization is spread across 30 cities in India, with a task force of almost 100,000 volunteers. Students have also been a part of ‘Gamiart’, an organization that sold 3D origami models and showcased them in annual school fairs, city exhibitions and the NID (National Institute of Design) Maker Fest (Ahmedabad). All the proceeds obtained from these were donated towards charity, NGOs, municipal schools in Ahmedabad and the local people for their basic needs.

Our junior students have also followed the footsteps of their seniors and exhibited the attribute of being empathetic, understanding, responsibleand reflective at an early stage. Students of Grades 5 & 6 have taken small initiatives to bring about big changes. One group of students has been working on preparing bookmarks and distributing it in their vicinity. Their one aim is to spread the joy of reading books. The other aim is to increase planting of trees. These students have been taking saplings in return of the bookmarks and planting them in the school. The other group of students has been making and distributing friendship bands and taking stationery items in return. They are collecting these items to distribute the same amongst the underprivileged children.
