ANAND NIKETAN SCHOOL SATELLITE ANNUAL MINI - MARATHON TRADITION CONTINUES
If you happened to be in the vicinity of the Sugadh Campus of the Anand Niketan Group of Schools on Sunday, the 7th of January, you would have surely caught a glimpse hundreds of school students in bright orange, red, blue and green, signifying the four houses Vaayu, Agni, Jal and Prithvi running along the Narmada Canal as they wound their way over the five mile mini marathon course that was laid out for them. Students of Anand Niketan Satellite Campus from all classes braved the chill and assembled in the school at 5.30 am in the morning. The younger participants ran for three kilometres whilst the senior students ran a 5 kilometre course. Make no mistake, it was not just any casual or non-competitive race. The students were in it, heart, mind and soul and exhibited a tremendous amount of running skill and character. Their enthusiasm and determination was obvious and the crowd that had lined up across the entire course kept spurring and urging them on. The entire route was monitored by the faculty, parents and volunteers to ensure that nothing untoward happened. Ms Nashy Chauhan, Director of the Anand Niketan Group of schools, said that the biggest lesson the students learn is perseverance and that it is not merely speed, but stamina and endurance that will carry them through in their lives. Furthermore it is a great lesson in teamwork and it was very heart-warming to see that the senior students were encouraging and egging on the other participants who were not finding the going very easy.
